COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course equips LERT volunteers with the knowledge and practical understanding needed to safely use ropes in disaster response operations. Participants will learn rope types, safety principles, inspection procedures, and proper application techniques to reduce risk and improve effectiveness in the field.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify proper rope types and materials
  • Understand working load limits and safety factors
  • Select appropriate ropes for specific tasks
  • Tie and use essential knots
  • Inspect and maintain ropes properly
  • Apply safe rope practices in field operations
