ROPES FOR DISASTER RESPONSE: Why Ropes Matter and How We Use Them Safely


Description

This course equips LERT volunteers with the knowledge and practical understanding needed to safely use ropes in disaster response operations.  Participants will learn rope types, safety principles inspection procedures, and proper application techiques to reduce risk and improve effectiveness in the field.


OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this course learners will be able to:

     - Identify proper rope types and materials

     - Understand working load limits and safety factors

     - Select appropriate ropes for specific tasks

     - Tie and use essential knots

     - Inspect and maintain ropes properly

     - Apply safe rope practices in field operations
